Stuff You Can Buy

Eleanore is off today. This is Jeff writing.

Yes the girls went to play with their friend Solie. Yes, Carolyn and I went on our first bike ride together. Yes, we all went to the renown local boarding school where students learn the ancient trades of wood carving, iron works, rock carving, tapestry. Our friend Cath (mother of the birthday girl Gaia) showed us around personally. Yes, we went to another friend's house for drinks, to meet more friends and play a cool game, called Werewolf -- we'll show you how to play when we get back. Yes, we did a lot of stuff...

But today is Saturday. And Saturday in Uzes is market day. Not the small, manageable, quaint village market we have each Wednesday, but the rowdy, gritty, enormous, odd one, where you can find anything. Saturday Market is the event of the week. And it's where we do a lot of our shopping but it's definitely where we do most of our gaping.

I'm not sure what is more overwhelming: the odd assortment of products being sold next to one another or all the people. Next week we'll give you a glimpse of the people. Today, we'll focus on the products.

Keep your eyes open for the video below. Enjoy this sampling from the market.

  1. eleanore, you know.
you knew that just the photos were enough.
we saw the france where you live through those pictures.
some were easy to look at, others drew pain, some urged me to get one, and of course, in my empty closet of scraves, i wished for a scarf.
thanks so much elle. i love your blogging.

  3. Proscuitto in France? And oysters, really? What fabulous photos, they speak to all five senses. So, most importantly, what did you buy?
